Dr. Deirdre O’Neill blends conventional medicine with scientifically-proven and effective natural medicine to provide an integrated approach to health care. Her specialties include pain management, orthopedic medicine, environmental medicine and women’s health care. She has incorporated hormone replacement therapy into her practice via herbal medicine and prescriptive bio-identical hormones.

Dr. O’Neill’s family is heavily entrenched in the medical field. This has given her the appreciation for both medical disciplines, and is skilled at helping patients bridge the gap. She has a strong background in biochemistry and orthopedic medicine, really getting down to helping patients understand how the body works. She will take the time to listen to all of your health concerns, teach you what is the cause of your illness and guide you in your journey towards health and wellness.

Dr. Deirdre O’Neill completed her premedical training at the University of Victoria and went on to receive a doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine from the internationally recognized school for science based natural medicine, Bastyr University in Seattle, Washington in 2003. While in school, she emphasized in her orthopedic training by certifying in Craniosacral therapy and Visceral Manipulation, both osteopathic specialties. Dr O’Neill is an experienced naturopathic physician, having been in private practice on Vancouver Island since 2003.

Dr. O’Neill has since received board certification in prolotherapy, pharmacology, and chelation therapy. She has sought training from a variety of prestigious organizations in order to obtain an appreciation for differing viewpoints, including the American Association of Orthopedic Medicine, the Naturopathic Association for Therapeutic Injection, the American College of Osetopathic Sclerotherapeutic Pain Management, the Hackett-Hemwall Foundation through the University of Wisconsin and the American College for Advancement in Medicine.

Dr. O’Neill has a love for nature. She balances her practice by spending time outdoors with her family. Through Dr. Deirdre’s appreciation of nature, she has come to study the impact of environmental toxins on our health. Understanding these repercussions, has fostered a passion for teaching patients how to live a healthy lifestyle in line with the laws of nature.

Dr O'Neill is available at Sage Clinic Monday and Thursday and at Cowichan Natural Medicine on Tuesday and Friday. She is accepting new patients.
